SENATE BILL NO. 256
AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE
(Proposed by the Senate Committee on Finance and Appropriations
on February 9, 2022)

A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Article 12 of
Chapter 1 of Title 44 a section numbered 44-114.01, relating to Department of
Military Affairs; institutions of higher education; recruitment.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 12 of Chapter 1 of Title 44 a section numbered 44-114.01 as follows:
§44-114.01. Authorization for grant funding in support of recruiting
The Department of Military Affairs may utilize grant funding in order to recruit qualified applicants for service in the Virginia National Guard. The yearly funding amount for such recruitment shall be at the discretion of the Adjutant General and the Department of Military Affairs and not exceed $50,000 per fiscal year.
