VIRGINIA ACTS OF ASSEMBLY -- CHAPTER An Act to amend and reenact §47.1-5.1 of the Code of Virginia, relating to notary public; application for recommission. [S 378] Approved

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That §47.1-5.1 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§47.1-5.1. Application for recommission.

~~For persons~~ Persons already commissioned as notaries public or electronic notaries public pursuant to this title and who are submitting application for recommission as a notary or electronic notary, may submit applications to the Secretary ~~may accept~~ in person, by first-class mail, or online, provided online applications contain electronic signatures, authorized by the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (§ 59.1-479 et seq.), as confirmation that the application has been signed and sworn pursuant to §47.1-5.
