A BILL to amend and reenact §46.2-889 of the Code of Virginia, relating to improper parking.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That §46.2-889 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§46.2-889. Location of parked vehicles.

A. No vehicle shall be stopped or parked on the highway right of way except close to and parallel to the right edge of the curb or right edge of the roadway, except that a vehicle may be stopped close to and parallel to the left curb or left edge of the roadway on one-way streets or may be parked at an angle where permitted by the Commonwealth Transportation Board, the Department, or local authorities with respect to highways under their jurisdiction.

B. No vehicle in Planning District 8 shall be parked with its wheels partially or fully on the curb or straddling the curb of a highway right of way. Any vehicle improperly parked with its wheels fully or partially on or straddling the curb of a highway right of way may be removed by or under the direction of a law enforcement officer.
