16101945D WHEREAS, Eamonn Collins, a former student at Rappahannock High School was named as the Virginia High School Coaches Association 1A Baseball Player of the Year in 2015; and WHEREAS, Eamonn Collins had a standout year as a pitcher, going 10 - 0 on the mound with an incredible 0.89 ERA, including 199 strikeouts in 70 innings; he also had an outstanding year as a batter with a .459 batting average and three home runs; and WHEREAS, Eamonn Collins represented Rappahannock High School in the Senior All-Star Game at Liberty University as the only two-way player, playing three innings at third base and another inning as pitcher; and WHEREAS, in addition to being named state Baseball Player of the Year, Eamonn Collins was also voted to the all-state team as pitcher and was a member of the all-academic team with a 3.9 grade point average; and WHEREAS, Eamonn Collins plans to continue playing baseball with Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Eamonn Collins on being selected as the 2015 Virginia High School Coaches Association 1A Baseball Player of the Year; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Eamonn Collins as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his achievements and best wishes on future endeavors. |
