SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 85

Commending the Orange County Chamber of Commerce.

Patrons-- Reeves, Diggs and Salim; Delegates: Clark, Green, Laufer, Owen, Rasoul, Scott, P.A., Sewell and Ware

WHEREAS, for 100 years, the Orange County Chamber of Commerce has supported local businesses and worked to enhance the quality of life for all residents of Orange County; and

WHEREAS, the Orange County Chamber of Commerce was established in 1924, and several original member businesses or their successors are still in existence, creating important jobs in the region and providing exceptional service to residents and visitors; and

WHEREAS, the Orange County Chamber of Commerce has attracted many new businesses to the region over the course of its history and remains a robust organization with more than 280 members; and

WHEREAS, in addition to providing many opportunities for area businesses to network and collaborate, the Orange County Chamber of Commerce hosts well-attended annual events such as the Orange Street Festival and Orange Uncorked Wine Festival; and

WHEREAS, through the hard work of generations of staff members and volunteers, the Orange County Chamber of Commerce has successfully advanced the civic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural interests of the county while promoting the general welfare of area residents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Orange County Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lauren Cotton, board president of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's contributions to the vibrant local economy.
