SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 134
Celebrating the life of Lucy Bralley del Cardayré.
 
Agreed to by the Senate, February 27, 2015
 

WHEREAS, Lucy Bralley del Cardayré, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who dedicated much of her life to the service of others, died on February 19, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Lucy del Cardayré attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College and Longwood University; after completing her education, she served as a teacher and an executive assistant and worked at the Medical Society of Virginia for many years; and

WHEREAS, later in life, Lucy del Cardayré served the Commonwealth as an administrative assistant to Senator William A. Truban and Senator Hunter B. Andrews in the Senate of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, passionate about helping and serving others, Lucy del Cardayré was a longtime Meals on Wheels driver, ensuring that members of the community in need had a nourishing meal, especially in times of inclement weather; and

WHEREAS, as a member of Families Anonymous, Lucy del Cardayré provided support and fellowship to individuals and families coping with the pain of addiction; and

WHEREAS, known as a kind listener and possessed of an exceptional memory, Lucy del Cardayré was an admired storyteller and loved to experience other cultures as a world traveler; and

WHEREAS, Lucy del Cardayré cared deeply for her family, and she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her sons, John, Peter, and Stephen, and their families and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Lucy Bralley del Cardayre; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lucy Bralley del Cardayré as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for her memory.
