WHEREAS, the Robinson Secondary School girls' lacrosse team of Fairfax County won the Virginia High School League Group 6A state championship in June 2015; and WHEREAS, the Robinson Secondary School Rams defeated the Oakton High School Cougars 16–12 to finish the season with a 21–1 record and secure the program's first state title since 2003; and WHEREAS, leading 9–3 at halftime, the Robinson Secondary School Rams weathered a determined effort by the Cougars, who cut the deficit down to one point; the Rams responded to the challenge, scoring four of the last five points in the game; and WHEREAS, Izzy Obregon led the team with four goals, Katie Checkosky added three goals and five assists, and Elli Kluegel and Mackenzie Schuler both had three goals; and WHEREAS, the victory is a testament to the skill and hard work of all of the student-athletes, the able leadership of the coaches and staff, and the enthusiastic support of the entire Robinson Secondary School community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Robinson Secondary School girls' lacrosse team hereby be commended on winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 6A state championship; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Liz Case, head coach of the Robinson Secondary School girls' lacrosse team, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the team's achievements. |
