An act to amend Section 242 of the Penal Code, relating to battery.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 1068, as introduced, Gonzalez Fletcher. Crimes against the person: battery.

Under existing law, a battery is any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another. Under existing law, battery is punishable by a fine not exceeding $2,000, or by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding 6 months, or by both that fine and imprisonment.

This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to those provisions.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.

 Section 242 of the Penal Code is amended to read:

242.

 A battery is any a willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another.
