BILL NUMBER: AB 2372 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Hill FEBRUARY 24, 2012 An act to add Section 1011.5 to the Code of Civil Procedure, relating to service of process. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2372, as introduced, Hill. Service of process: attorneys. Existing law provides for service of process and other notices by various means, including by mail or in person, and specifies the conditions for those various means of service of process. This bill would provide that, notwithstanding any other law, service of process by a client, former client, or officer of the court is effective upon an attorney if mailed to the address for the attorney appearing on the attorney's profile on the Internet Web site of the State Bar. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 1011.5 is added to the Code of Civil Procedure, to read: 1011.5. Notwithstanding any other law, service of process upon an attorney by a client, former client, or officer of the court is effective upon an attorney if mailed to the address for the attorney appearing on the attorney's profile on the Internet Web site of the State Bar.
