An act relating to healing arts. to add Section 131060 to the Health and Safety Code, relating to public health.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 1231, as amended, Caballero. Physicians: Valley Fever diagnostic training. standard diagnostic.

Existing law establishes the State Department of Public Health to implement and administer various programs relating to public health.

This bill would require the State Department of Public Health to create a California Standard Diagnostic for Valley Fever. The bill would request that the University of California at Merced and the University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine Fresno campus consult on the creation of that standard diagnostic.

Existing law, the Medical Practice Act, establishes the Medical Board of California in the Department of Consumer Affairs, and specifies the board’s responsibilities, which include reviewing the quality of medical practice carried out by physician certificate holders under its jurisdiction, approving undergraduate and graduate medical education programs, and approving special programs and hospitals for those specified education programs.

This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact subsequent legislation related to Valley Fever diagnostic training.

Bill Text

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.

 Section 131060 is added to the Health and Safety Code, to read:

131060.

 (a) The State Department of Public Health shall create a California Standard Diagnostic for Valley Fever.

(b) The University of California at Merced and the University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine Fresno campus are requested to consult on the creation of the California Standard Diagnostic for Valley Fever.

SECTION 1.

It is the intent of the Legislature to enact subsequent legislation related to Valley Fever diagnostic training.
