CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE— 2021–2022 REGULAR SESSION

Senate Bill
No. 1259

Introduced by Senator Laird

February 17, 2022

An act to amend Section 3508.1 of the Civil Code, relating to civil law.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 1259, as introduced, Laird. Civil law.
Existing law makes the exhibition of any motion picture a nuisance if any intentional killing of, or cruelty to, a human being or an animal is shown in the motion picture and such action actually occurred in the production of the motion picture, unless certain exceptions apply. Existing law makes it a misdemeanor for a producer to willfully misstate or cause to be misstated any fact contained in a statement relating to specified exceptions.
This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to that provision.
Vote: MAJORITY   Appropriation: NO   Fiscal Committee: NO   Local Program: NO

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.

Section 3508.1 of the Civil Code is amended to read:

3508.1.
Any producer who willfully misstates or causes to be misstated any fact contained in a statement under paragraph (6) or (7) of subdivision (a) of Section 3508 is guilty of a misdemeanor.
