An act relating to charter schools.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 426, as introduced, Niello. Charter schools: nonclassroom-based instruction.
The Charter Schools Act of 1992 authorizes the establishment, operation, and governance of charter schools. Existing law authorizes a charter school that has an approved charter to receive funding for nonclassroom-based instruction, which includes, but is not limited to, independent study, home study, work study, and distance and computer-based education, only if a determination for funding is made by the state board, as specified.
This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to enact subsequent legislation that would address charter schools that offer nonclassroom-based instruction.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.

It is the intent of the Legislature to enact subsequent legislation that would address charter schools that offer nonclassroom-based instruction.
