BILL NUMBER: SB 875 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Senator Price FEBRUARY 18, 2011 An act to add Section 13800.1 to the Business and Professions Code, relating to rental vehicles. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 875, as introduced, Price. Rental vehicles. Existing law authorizes a rental vehicle fuel gauge installed by a vehicle's manufacturer to be used in a rental transaction by a rental company to calculate an optional charge for fueling, under specified circumstances. This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to confirm that the enactment of that provision clarified, but did not change, existing law, and that the provision applies to passenger and nonpassenger vehicle rentals by a rental company and to all such transactions made before and after the enactment of that provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 13800.1 is added to the Business and Professions Code, to read: 13800.1. It is the intent of the Legislature in enacting this section to confirm that the enactment of Section 13800 clarified, but did not change, existing law. Section 13800 applies to passenger and nonpassenger vehicle rentals by a rental company and to all such rental transactions made before and after the enactment of Section 13800.
