AN ACT REQUIRING THE COMMISSIONER OF TRANSPORTATION TO ATTEND CERTAIN PUBLIC HEARINGS CONCERNING RAILROAD CROSSINGS AT GRADE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 245a of the general statutes, concerning railroad construction and location, be amended to require the Commissioner of Transportation, or a designee of the commissioner, to attend a public hearing concerning the safety and condition of a railroad crossing at grade, upon receipt by the commissioner of a petition that requests the commissioner to attend such hearing and is signed by twenty-five or more electors of the municipality in which such crossing is located.

Statement of Purpose:

To require the Commissioner of Transportation or said commissioner's designee to attend certain public hearings concerning railroad crossings at grade.
