Florida Senate - 2010 SB 426 By Senator Bullard 39-00402-10 2010426__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to consumer protection; amending s. 3 501.005, F.S.; requiring the Department of Corrections 4 to provide each inmate in a correctional facility the 5 opportunity to place a security freeze on his or her 6 consumer report; requiring the department, at the 7 request of the inmate, to provide the appropriate 8 forms to the inmate to initiate the security freeze 9 process; requiring that the inmate pay all fees and 10 expenses incurred in the application for a security 11 freeze; providing an effective date. 12 13 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 14 15 Section 1. Subsection (18) is added to section 501.005, 16 Florida Statutes, to read: 17 501.005 Consumer report security freeze.— 18 (18) The Department of Corrections shall provide each 19 inmate in a correctional facility the opportunity to place a 20 security freeze on his or her consumer report pursuant to this 21 section. The department shall, at the request of the inmate, 22 provide the appropriate forms to the inmate to initiate the 23 security freeze process. All fees and expenses incurred in the 24 application for a security freeze shall be paid by the inmate. 25 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
