A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to transportation.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. (a) There is created within the Hawaii tourism authority a two-year pilot program for the operation of a shuttle between Haleiwa and Turtle Bay Resort on the north shore of Oahu.
(b) The Hawaii tourism authority shall submit a report to the legislature no later than twenty days before the convening of the regular session of 2026 regarding the pilot program, including a recommendation about whether the program should be made permanent.
(c) The pilot program shall cease to exist on June 30, 2025.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2023-2024 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2024-2025 for a two-year pilot program for the operation of a shuttle between Haleiwa and Turtle Bay Resort on the north shore of Oahu, including:
(1) $ for the operating costs of the shuttle; and
(2) $ for site selection of a suitable parking lot.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii tourism authority for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2023, and shall be repealed on June 30, 2025.
