SENATE FLOOR AMENDMENT

TO:     Senate Bill No. 1304, S.D. 2

 

            SECTION 1.  Senate Bill. No. 1304, S.D. 2, is amended by deleting its contents and inserting the contents of Senate Bill No. 2687, S.D. 1, which:

 

     (1)  Appropriates as unspecified amount of funds for fiscal year 2018-2019 to the University of Hawai‘i to translate the Hawai‘i State Constitution into the Hawaiian language;

 

     (2)  Requires courts, to the extent reasonably possible, to provide interpreter services if any party to a proceeding requests that the proceeding be conducted in the Hawaiian language; and

 

     (3)  Appropriates an unspecified amount of funds for fiscal year 2018-2019 to the Judiciary to establish one full-time equivalent position, exempt from the requirements of chapter 76, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to provide interpreter services in the Hawaiian language in accordance with this measure.
