A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO HEALTH.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 349-3.2, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

     "[[]§349-3.2[]]  Alzheimer's disease and related dementia services coordinator.  There is established within the executive office on aging an Alzheimer's disease and related dementia services coordinator to coordinate the provision of public and private Alzheimer's disease and related dementia services[.] and to coordinate and support efforts to:

     (1)  Prevent and treat Alzheimer's disease;

     (2)  Enhance the quality and efficiency of Alzheimer's disease care;

     (3)  Expand supports for people with Alzheimer's disease and their families;

     (4)  Enhance public awareness of Alzheimer's disease and symptoms; and

     (5)  Improve the collection and analysis of data tracking efforts for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

The coordinator shall be appointed by the director in accordance with chapters 76 and 89."

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $       or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2014-2015 for the establishment of one full-time equivalent (1.00 FTE) position in the executive office on aging to assist the Alzheimer's disease and related dementia services coordinator with information and referrals, counseling, education, support groups, and safety services.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.

Description:

Establishes additional duties for the Alzheimer's disease and related dementia services coordinator and appropriates funds for one full-time (1.00 FTE) position within the executive office on aging to assist with Alzheimer's disease and dementia related services.  Effective 07/01/2050.  (SD2)
