A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE HAWAII TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 

     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that the Hawaii technology development corporation is a key state agency in developing and supporting initiatives aimed at promoting technology and innovation jobs in the State.  In 2017, the legislature provided funding for and made changes to the small business innovation research program.  The legislature supports continuation of the small business innovation research program as an important initiative of the State to assist Hawaii small businesses in advancing technology and developing new products.

     The purpose of this Act is to support and sustain the small business innovation research program operated by the Hawaii technology development corporation.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2018-2019 for the continuance of the small business innovation research program; provided that the Hawaii technology development corporation shall plan to provide funds for phase three grants where applicable.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii technology development corporation for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 2, 2050.
