SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
625 ILCS 5/3-699.22 new

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. 1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5Section 3-699.22 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/3-699.22 new)
7 Sec. 3-699.22. Defense Superior Service plates. The
8Secretary, upon receipt of an application made in the form
9prescribed by the Secretary, may issue special registration
10plates designated as Defense Superior Service license plates
11to Illinois residents who have been awarded the Defense
12Superior Service Medal by a branch of the armed forces of the
13United States. The special plates issued pursuant to this
14Section shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the
15first division, motorcycles, and motor vehicles of the second
16division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. The Secretary
17may allow the plates to be issued as vanity or personalized
18plates in accordance with Section 3-405.1. The Secretary shall
19make a version of the special registration plates authorized
20under this Section in a form appropriate for motorcycles.
21 The design and color of the plates shall be wholly within
22the discretion of the Secretary. No registration fee,
23including the fees established under Section 3-806, shall be
