HOUSE BILL No. 4025

 

January 15, 2015, Introduced by Rep. Kosowski and referred to the Committee on Local Government.

 

     A bill to amend 1968 PA 2, entitled

 

"Uniform budgeting and accounting act,"

 

(MCL 141.421 to 141.440a) by adding section 3a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 3a. Notwithstanding any charter provision to the

 

contrary, beginning on the effective date of the amendatory act

 

that added this section, a local unit shall not enter into a

 

contract with architects, professional engineers, or professional

 

surveyors unless the selection is made in accordance with

 

competitive, qualifications-based selection processes and

 

procedures for the type of professional service required by the

 

local unit.
