HOUSE BILL No. 4530

 

April 12, 2011, Introduced by Reps. Callton and Opsommer and referred to the Committee on Government Operations.

 

     A bill to amend 1979 PA 94, entitled

 

"The state school aid act of 1979,"

 

(MCL 388.1601 to 388.1772) by adding section 11e.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 11e. For a district that provides medical, optical, or

 

dental benefits to employees and their dependents, if the district

 

requires each employee for whom any of those benefits are provided

 

to pay at least 20% of the cost of those benefits, then

 

notwithstanding any other section of this act, all of the following

 

apply to that district:

 

     (a) The amount of the district's foundation allowance used to

 

calculate per pupil payments under this act shall be at least as

 

great as the district's foundation allowance used to calculate per

 

pupil payments under this act for the immediately preceding state

 

fiscal year.

 

     (b) The district or intermediate district is not subject to

 

any per pupil deduction from its funding under section 11d.
