LITTLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government -- committee discharged and said bill committed to the Committee on Rules -- reported favorably from said committee, ordered to a third reading, passed by Senate and delivered to the Assembly, recalled, vote recon- sidered, restored to third reading, amended and ordered reprinted, retaining its place in the order of third reading AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in relation to permitting Essex county to enter into a municipal cooperative agreement for emer- gency medical services and general ambulance services The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 122-b of the general municipal law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 6 to read as follows: 3 6. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, Essex county 4 may enter into a municipal cooperative agreement with any municipal 5 cooperation, fire district, fire protection district, or ambulance 6 district within the county, in order to finance and operate emergency 7 medical services, general ambulance services or a combination of such 8 services as authorized by this section, as a joint service pursuant to 9 article five-g of this chapter. Pursuant to the municipal cooperative 10 agreement, Essex county may contract with one or more individuals, asso- 11 ciations, or other organizations to implement the municipal cooperative 12 agreement authorized by this act. The expense of such joint service 13 shall be assessed, levied and collected from all lots and parcels of 14 land within the county which are subject to the municipal cooperative 15 agreement in the same manner and at the same time as other county charg- 16 es. Nothing herein shall be construed as mandating the participation of 17 any existing emergency services agency which currently provides such 18 services. 19 § 2.
