        Introduced  by  Sen.  LITTLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government
        AN ACT to amend the general municipal law,  in  relation  to  permitting
          Essex  county  to  establish  a special district for emergency medical
          services and general ambulance services
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  Section  122-b of the general municipal law is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision 6 to read as follows:
     3    6. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, Essex  county
     4  may  establish  a  special  district  for the financing and operation of
     5  emergency medical services, general ambulance services or a  combination
     6  of  such  services  as  set  forth  by this section, whereby such county
     7  acting individually, or jointly  with  any  city,  town  and/or  village
     8  located  within  such  county,  through  its  governing  body or bodies,
     9  following applicable procedures as are required for the establishment of
    10  special improvement districts in article twelve or twelve-A of the  town
    11  law,  with  such special district being authorized by this section to be
    12  established in all or any part of Essex county and any such  participat-
    13  ing town or towns, city or cities and/or village or villages.
    14    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
