A BILL
To amend section 5721.021 of the Revised Code to 1
remove the minimum population criterion governing 2
which counties may employ delinquent real property 3
tax collectors, thereby allowing counties with 4
populations below 200,000 to employ such 5
collectors.6


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 5721.021 of the Revised Code be 7
amended to read as follows:8

       Sec. 5721.021.  If thea board of county commissioners 9
serving a county with a population of at least two hundred 10
thousand deems it necessary, it may, with the consent of the 11
prosecuting attorney, authorize the county treasurer to employ 12
collectors to collect the delinquent taxes on the list mentioned 13
in section 5721.011 of the Revised Code, or part thereof, and fix 14
the compensation of such collectors, and provide for the 15
reasonable and necessary expenses of such collectors in the 16
pursuit of their duties, which shall be paid out of the county 17
treasury. All such compensation and expenses shall be apportioned 18
ratably by the county auditor among all the funds entitled to 19
share in the distribution of the taxes. As used in this section, 20
"delinquent taxes" has the same meaning as under division (E) of 21
section 323.01 of the Revised Code.22

       Section 2. That existing section 5721.021 of the Revised Code 23
is hereby repealed.24
