A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

To designate a week in July 2014 as Independent

Retailers Week.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO
(THE SENATE CONCURRING):

WHEREAS, The greatness of the United States lies in the	3
opportunities it provides to the dreamer in all of us; and	4

WHEREAS, Independent retailers, being entrepreneurs who	5
pursue a dream and assume the risk of business, create jobs, and	6
keep alive the dream of business ownership; and	7

WHEREAS, Many large retailers in the United States began as	8
independent, family-owned businesses; and	9

WHEREAS, The General Assembly intends to encourage	10
entrepreneurship in the United States; and	11

WHEREAS, It is fitting to celebrate independent retailers	12
during the period when the United States celebrates its	13
independence; now therefore be it	14

RESOLVED, That Monday, June 30, through Sunday, July 6, in	15
2014 is designated Independent Retailers Week"; and be it further	16

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives	17
transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to the news	18
media of Ohio.	19
