AN ACT

Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the

2

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for

3

victims of sexual or physical abuse.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Section 5988(a) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania

7

Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8

§ 5988.  Victims of sexual or physical abuse.

(a)  Release of name prohibited.--Notwithstanding any other

10

provision of law to the contrary, in a prosecution involving a

11

child victim of sexual or physical abuse, unless the court

12

otherwise orders, the name and actual initials of the child

13

victim shall not be disclosed by officers or employees of the

14

court to the public, and any records revealing the name or

15

actual initials of the child victim will not be open to public

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
