| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Imposing a fee on certain local governments without police |
2 | departments for law enforcement services provided by |
3 | Pennsylvania State Police. |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. Fee for law enforcement services from Pennsylvania |
7 | State Police. |
8 | (a) Fee.--Each local government that has a population of at |
9 | least 10,000, does not provide local police services and |
10 | receives law enforcement services from the Pennsylvania State |
11 | Police shall, on an annual basis, pay to the Commonwealth a fee |
12 | of $100 per resident of the municipality. In determining the |
13 | amount of the fee, the Pennsylvania State Police shall use the |
14 | most recent Federal decennial census information. The fee shall |
15 | be due within 90 days of the date of receipt of an invoice from |
16 | the Pennsylvania State Police, unless the local government and |
17 | Pennsylvania State Police agree otherwise in writing. |

1 | (b) Definition.--As used in this section, the term "local |
2 | police services" means local police coverage for at least 60 |
3 | hours per week for 52 weeks per year or 3,210 hours per year. |
4 | Section 2. Effective date. |
5 | This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
