AN ACT

Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An

2

act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public

3

welfare laws of the Commonwealth," further providing for

4

verification of eligibility for medical assistance.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

6

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Section 441.9 of the act of June 13, 1967

8

(P.L.31, No.21), known as the Public Welfare Code, is amended by

9

adding a subsection to read:

Section 441.9.  Verification of Eligibility.--* * *

11

(d)  Except as prohibited by Federal law, the department

12

shall notify the Attorney General within thirty days of the

13

payment for medical assistance to the health care provider, if

14

the person receiving medical assistance is either a known or

suspected illegal immigrant. This notification shall contain the

2

last known whereabouts or any other relevant identification

3

which may assist the Attorney General in locating the known or

4

suspected illegal immigrant.

5

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
