A RESOLUTION

Recognizing April 11, 2011, as "Eat for Peace Day" in

2

Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, "Eat for Peace Day" was inspired by Philadelphian

4

Anthony Lucidonio, Jr., after opening his restaurant, Tony

5

Luke's, in Bahrain; and

6

WHEREAS, The House of Representatives understands the need

7

for people from all walks of life to recognize and appreciate

8

cultural differences; and

9

WHEREAS, Respectful collaboration among all nationalities,

10

customs and lifestyles is key in creating and maintaining a

11

peaceful world; and

12

WHEREAS, All people need to recognize the differences between

13

themselves and others and engage in the understanding of others;

14

and

15

WHEREAS, Regardless of race or ethnicity, all individuals

16

strive for happiness; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Lucidonio, Jr., found through his

2

experiences that when people eat together they share cultural

3

experiences and deepen understanding and peace between

4

individuals; and

5

WHEREAS, "Eat for Peace Day" asks that all people share a

6

meal with persons of various backgrounds and thereby take a

7

stride toward peace by shedding their stereotypes and

8

prejudices; therefore be it

9

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage

10

individuals to dine with people of diverse customs in order to

11

bring peace among different races, religions and sexual

12

preferences; and be it further

13

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize April

14

11, 2011, as "Eat for Peace Day" in Pennsylvania, in order to

15

encourage all societies to recognize differences in cultures and

16

accept those differences to attain acceptance and peace around

17

the world.
