A RESOLUTION

  

1

Urging the support of the Congress of the United States for the

2

State of Israel in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

3

in the Gaza Strip.

4

WHEREAS, The State of Israel and the ruling party of Gaza,

5

Hamas, held a six-month truce that ended on December 19, 2008;

6

and

7

WHEREAS, The people of Israel have endured rocket attacks and

8

other forms of terror from Hamas; and

9

WHEREAS, Rocket and mortar attacks from Hamas and Palestinian

10

militants have attacked cities in southern Israel, such as

11

Beersheba and Ashdod; and

12

WHEREAS, The State of Israel has a right to defend itself and

13

its people; and 

14

WHEREAS, The State of Israel has been a strong and steady

15

ally of the United States and is the strongest democratic state

in the Middle East; therefore be it

2

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the

3

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania urge the Congress of the United

4

States to support the people and government of the State of

5

Israel in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to

7

the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each

8

member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
