A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of February 28 through March 4, 2011, as
"Communities In Schools Week" and honoring the work of the
volunteers, staff and board members of the Pennsylvania
network of Communities In Schools.
WHEREAS, Founded 35 years ago by Bill Milliken, Communities
In Schools is dedicated to keeping kids in school and helping
them graduate on time; and
WHEREAS, Drop-out prevention programs are vital to a strong
work force and economy, to helping children of this Commonwealth
meet the demands of a changing world and to pursuing
postsecondary degrees; and
WHEREAS, Communities In Schools has been evaluated as the
only drop-out prevention program to help children stay in school
and graduate on time; and
WHEREAS, Communities In Schools Pennsylvania network served
more than 21,000 children last year in districts across this
Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Communities In Schools is a nationwide network of

passionate professionals working in public schools to surround
students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in
school and achieve in life; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the efforts
of Communities In Schools; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
week of February 28 through March 4, 2011, as "Communities In
Schools Week" in Pennsylvania.
