| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Designating the week of February 28 through March 4, 2011, as |
2 | "Communities In Schools Week" and honoring the work of the |
3 | volunteers, staff and board members of the Pennsylvania |
4 | network of Communities In Schools. |
5 | WHEREAS, Founded 35 years ago by Bill Milliken, Communities |
6 | In Schools is dedicated to keeping kids in school and helping |
7 | them graduate on time; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Drop-out prevention programs are vital to a strong |
9 | work force and economy, to helping children of this Commonwealth |
10 | meet the demands of a changing world and to pursuing |
11 | postsecondary degrees; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Communities In Schools has been evaluated as the |
13 | only drop-out prevention program to help children stay in school |
14 | and graduate on time; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Communities In Schools Pennsylvania network served |
16 | more than 21,000 children last year in districts across this |
17 | Commonwealth; and |
18 | WHEREAS, Communities In Schools is a nationwide network of |

1 | passionate professionals working in public schools to surround |
2 | students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in |
3 | school and achieve in life; therefore be it |
4 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the efforts |
5 | of Communities In Schools; and be it further |
6 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the |
7 | week of February 28 through March 4, 2011, as "Communities In |
8 | Schools Week" in Pennsylvania. |
