AN ACT

Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in judgments and other

3

liens, providing for exemption from certain money judgments

4

of hospitals.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

6

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1. Title 42 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes

8

is amended by adding a section to read:

§ 8129.  Exemption from money judgments of hospitals.

(a)  General rule.--Notwithstanding any other provision of

11

law to the contrary, in the case of a judgment arising out of

12

services provided at a hospital in which the judgment creditor

13

is the hospital, the aggregate value of the judgment debtor's

14

homestead property shall be exempt from execution under this

15

subchapter.

(b)  Definition.--For purposes of this section, "hospital"

17

shall have the same meaning given to it under section 802.1 of

18

the act of July 19, 1979 (P.L.130, No.48), known as the Health

19

Care Facilities Act.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
