A RESOLUTION

Recognizing April 27, 2011, as "Summer Camps Day" in

2

Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, Summer camps provide new experiences for youth which

4

expand their personal growth; and

5

WHEREAS, Summer camps nurture through nature and teach the

6

importance of environmental stewardship; and

7

WHEREAS, Summer camps provide youth with leadership

8

opportunities through which they can hone and develop their

9

decision-making skills for long-term success; and

10

WHEREAS, Summer camps provide an "unplugged" environment

11

which allows youth the time and opportunity to emote and

12

converse face-to-face; and

13

WHEREAS, Summer camps teach critical-thinking and problem-

14

solving skills to youth that will serve them well in all aspects

15

of their life; and

16

WHEREAS, Summer camps play a vital role in building strong

17

communities and model citizens; and

WHEREAS, Summer camps foster compassionate behavior by

2

allowing youth to participate in local service projects; and

3

WHEREAS, Summer camps contribute to local communities by

4

creating jobs and by purchasing goods and services from local

5

businesses; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize April 27, 2011, as

7

"Summer Camps Day" in Pennsylvania in recognition of the rich

8

benefits that summer camps provide, such as the positive

9

development of youth and the enhancement of local communities.
