A JOINT RESOLUTION

 

TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation - Board of VETERINARY Medical Examiners, RELATING TO Definitions; Practice Standards for Licensed Veterinary Technicians and Unlicensed Veterinary Aides; Licensure and Examinations for Veterinarians, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 5121, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS.

 

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

 

SECTION 1.  The regulations of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation - Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, relating to Definitions; Practice Standards for Licensed Veterinary Technicians and Unlicensed Veterinary Aides; Licensure and Examinations for Veterinarians, designated as Regulation Document Number 5121, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the S.C. Code, are approved.

 

SECTION 2.  This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED

BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.

The South Carolina Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners is considering proposing amendments to Chapter 120: to define "emergency animal patient" and "imaging" in Regulation 120-1; to update and clarify Regulation 120-9 regarding the practice standards for licensed veterinary technicians and revise and move practice standards for unlicensed veterinary aides to Regulation 120-8; and to clarify Regulation 120-3 in accordance with the statutes for licensure and examinations for veterinarians.

 

A Notice of Drafting was published in the State Register on July 22, 2022.
