BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 62.014, Parks and Wildlife Code, is | ||
amended by amending Subsection (n) to read as follows: | ||
(n) The following persons are exempt from any requirement to | ||
complete [ |
||
under this section: | ||
(1) an honorably discharged veteran of the United | ||
States armed forces[ |
||
[ |
||
United States armed [ |
||
(2) a person who is on active duty or has previously | ||
served as a member of the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air | ||
National Guard, or the Texas State Guard; or | ||
(3) a person who is serving or has previously served as | ||
a peace officer described by Subdivision (1), (2), (3), or (4), | ||
Article 2.12, Code of Criminal Procedure[ |

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
