relating to the eligibility requirements for plumbing licenses | ||
issued to applicants with military service. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 1301, Occupations Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 1301.3585 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 1301.3585. APPLICANT WITH MILITARY SERVICE. (a) In | ||
this section, "military" means the armed forces of the United | ||
States, Texas National Guard, or Texas State Guard. | ||
(b) The board shall credit relevant experience, training, | ||
or education in plumbing that an applicant received while serving | ||
in the military toward the requirements for a license issued under | ||
this chapter. | ||
(c) The board shall adopt rules necessary to implement this | ||
section. | ||
SECTION 2. (a) Section 1301.3585, Occupations Code, as | ||
added by this Act, applies only to an application for a license | ||
filed on or after May 1, 2014. An application for a license filed | ||
before May 1, 2014, is governed by the law in effect on the date the | ||
application was filed, and that law is continued in effect for that | ||
purpose. | ||
(b) The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners shall adopt | ||
rules under Section 1301.3585, Occupations Code, as added by this | ||
Act, not later than March 1, 2014. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
