| relating to designating December 8 as Special Hearts Day. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 662.085 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 662.085. SPECIAL HEARTS DAY. (a) December 8 is | ||
| Special Hearts Day in recognition and celebration of artists with | ||
| special needs and the mission of Special Hearts in the Arts, a | ||
| nonprofit organization in Corpus Christi that offers weekly classes | ||
| in theater arts, dance, music, art, and film to persons with special | ||
| needs to build a more inclusive community in which people are | ||
| defined by their abilities rather than their disabilities. | ||
| (b) Special Hearts Day shall be regularly observed by | ||
| appropriate ceremonies and activities. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
