relating to the required notice of a patient's right to receive an | ||
estimate of certain health care services provided by a physician. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 101.352, Occupations Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: | ||
(c-1) A physician or physician group shall post a clear and | ||
conspicuous notice of a patient's right to receive an estimate of | ||
charges under Subsection (c): | ||
(1) in at least one area of the physician's or group's | ||
office where patients are commonly present; and | ||
(2) on the physician's or group's Internet website if | ||
the physician or group maintains an Internet website. | ||
SECTION 2. (a) The Health Professions Council may | ||
prescribe the form and content required for a notice under Section | ||
101.352(c-1), Occupations Code, as added by this Act. | ||
(b) Notwithstanding Section 101.352(c-1), Occupations | ||
Code, as added by this Act, a physician or physician group is not | ||
required to comply with that section until December 1, 2019. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
