relating to a requirement that public institutions of higher | ||
education provide certain information regarding certain women's | ||
health programs to students. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 51, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 51.9196 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 51.9196. REQUIRED INFORMATION REGARDING WOMEN'S | ||
HEALTH PROGRAMS. (a) In this section, "institution of higher | ||
education" has the meaning assigned by Section 61.003. | ||
(b) During the fall semester of each academic year, an | ||
institution of higher education shall distribute by e-mail to each | ||
student enrolled at the institution information regarding women's | ||
health programs administered by the Health and Human Services | ||
Commission, including information about: | ||
(1) the eligibility requirements for those programs; | ||
and | ||
(2) the enrollment procedures for those programs, | ||
including a link to the Health and Human Services Commission's | ||
Internet website that hosts that enrollment information. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 51.9196, Education Code, as added by | ||
this Act, applies beginning with the 2019 fall semester. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
