relating to the regulation of licensed specialists in school | ||
psychology. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 501.260, Occupations Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsections (d), (e), (f), and (g) to read as follows: | ||
(d) A person licensed under this section may be employed by | ||
and practice in a private school. | ||
(e) A person may not use the title "licensed specialist in | ||
school psychology" or "school psychologist" unless the person holds | ||
a license issued under this section. | ||
(f) A person who holds a license under this section may not | ||
use the title "nationally certified school psychologist" unless the | ||
person holds the appropriate credentials as designated by the | ||
National Association of School Psychologists or a successor | ||
organization. | ||
(g) A person who holds a license under this section may not | ||
use a title that represents that the person is licensed under | ||
Section 501.252 unless the person holds a license under that | ||
section. A person who holds a license under this section may not | ||
use the title designated by the board under Section 501.259 unless | ||
the person holds a license under that section. | ||
SECTION 2. Sections 501.260(e), (f), and (g), Occupations | ||
Code, as added by this Act, apply only to conduct that occurs on or | ||
after the effective date of this Act. Conduct that occurs before the | ||
effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the | ||
date the conduct occurred, and the former law is continued in effect | ||
for that purpose. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
