| WHEREAS, Barbara Powers has been named the recipient of the | ||
| Silver Beaver Award by the Circle Ten Council of the Boy Scouts of | ||
| America; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This distinguished service commendation pays | ||
| tribute to individuals who have made a positive difference in the | ||
| lives of Texas youth through their dedicated work in behalf of the | ||
| council; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A truly deserving recipient, Ms. Powers has shared | ||
| her time and talents with the organization through her service as a | ||
| den leader, assistant scoutmaster, committee chair, district | ||
| committee member, associate advisor, and district vice-chair; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Powers is a member of the Order of the Arrow and | ||
| has earned the District Award of Merit, and she has served as | ||
| president of the Kiwanis International Scouting Association; in | ||
| addition to her work with the Boy Scouts organization, she is the | ||
| treasurer for the Garland Homeowners Coalition, a driver for Meals | ||
| on Wheels, and a volunteer for dozens of organizations in the | ||
| Garland area; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Many young people have benefited from the | ||
| leadership, commitment, and enthusiasm of Barbara Powers, and it is | ||
| a pleasure to join in acknowledging her exceptional contributions | ||
| to the Boy Scouts of America; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Barbara Powers on her receipt of | ||
| the Silver Beaver Award from the Circle Ten Council of the Boy | ||
| Scouts of America and extend to her sincere best wishes for | ||
| continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Powers as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
