| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, | ||
| is amended by adding Section 201.6155 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 201.6155. ALTERNATIVE ROAD CONSTRUCTION METHODS. | ||
| (a) The department shall create a mechanism to test alternative | ||
| road construction methods that have been implemented or tested by | ||
| another governmental entity, another state, or the federal | ||
| government. | ||
| (b) The department may test methods identified under | ||
| Subsection (a). If the department determines that a method tested | ||
| under this subsection meets the state's needs, the department shall | ||
| approve the method for use in this state. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
