| and supportive school team. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 37.115, Education Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsections (f-1) and (f-2) to read as follows: | ||
| (f-1) Before a team may conduct a threat assessment of a | ||
| student, the team must notify the parent of or person standing in | ||
| parental relation to the student regarding the assessment. In | ||
| conducting the assessment, the team shall make a good faith effort | ||
| to provide an opportunity for the parent or person to: | ||
| (1) participate in the assessment, either in person or | ||
| remotely; and | ||
| (2) submit to the team information regarding the | ||
| student. | ||
| (f-2) After completing a threat assessment of a student, the | ||
| team shall provide to the parent of or person standing in parental | ||
| relation to the student the team's findings and conclusions | ||
| regarding the student. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024 | ||
| school year. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
