BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 18, Article VIII, Texas Constitution, is | ||
amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: | ||
(c-1) An appraisal entity or the board of equalization for | ||
an appraisal entity may not require a property owner to pay a fee in | ||
connection with a protest filed by the owner with the board of an | ||
action that the Legislature by general law authorizes to be the | ||
subject of a protest. | ||
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019. | ||
The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against the | ||
proposition: "The constitutional amendment to prohibit an | ||
appraisal district or the appraisal review board for an appraisal | ||
district from requiring a property owner to pay a fee in connection | ||
with a protest filed by the owner with the board. |
