A BILL to establish the responsibility of the Superintendent of State Police to enter into an agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement concerning the enforcement of immigration laws.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  §1. That the Superintendent of State Police or his designee shall on behalf of the Commonwealth seek to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as authorized under 8 U.S.C. §1357(g), to permit the State Police to perform federal immigration law-enforcement functions in the Commonwealth, limited by such agreement to those immigration law-enforcement functions performed by such State Police officers following the arrest of an alien.
