HOUSE BILL NO. 1008 Offered January 13, 2010 Prefiled January 13, 2010 A BILL to amend and reenact § 54.1-1109 of the Code of Virginia, relating to the Board for Contractors; license renewal; continuing education for contractors. ---------- Patron-- Athey ---------- Referred to Committee on General Laws ----------

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That § 54.1-1109 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§54.1-1109. Expiration and renewal of license or certificate; continuing education as a prerequisite for renewal of license or certificate.

A. A license or certificate issued pursuant to this chapter shall expire as provided in Board regulations. Application for renewal of a license or certificate may be made as provided by Board regulations. The application shall be accompanied by a fee set by the Board pursuant to §54.1-201.

B. The Board may establish in its regulations a requirement for the successful completion of a course on building codes not to exceed three hours of classroom instruction as a prerequisite to renewal of any license issued under this article. The Board may approve such courses as it deems appropriate.
