WHEREAS, Andrea Lynch Lohr of Broadway, who touched the lives of countless individuals with her zest for life and inspiring words of hope and faith, died on July 10, 2011; and WHEREAS, Andrea Lohr was raised in southwest Kentucky, where she developed a Southern accent that she never lost and a keen interest in the agricultural community; and WHEREAS, a natural leader, Andrea Lohr took an active role in Future Farmers of America, serving as the Kentucky State FFA President and working at the national FFA organization as a leadership trainer, curriculum writer, and workshop presenter; and WHEREAS, Andrea Lohr earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky and taught middle school agricultural education for several years before receiving a master's degree from James Madison University; she also worked as a consultant with Premier Designs Jewelry; and WHEREAS, throughout her life, Andrea Lohr remained grounded in a deep faith that sustained her and enabled her to face life's challenges with a strong heart and cheerful spirit; and WHEREAS, a gifted and vibrant speaker, Andrea Lohr shared inspirational words with thousands of individuals through speaking engagements at state and national conventions, churches, and leadership conferences; and WHEREAS, a member of Harrisonburg Baptist Church, Andrea Lohr shared her faith with her church family as a deacon and member of the leadership team and various committees; she was deeply touched when the new expansion project was named in her honor; and WHEREAS, when diagnosed with breast cancer, Andrea Lohr rallied community members to help raise awareness of the disease and twice co-chaired the Rockingham County Relay for Life event; and WHEREAS, central to Andrea Lohr's life was her family: loving husband, Matthew Lohr, Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and former member of the Virginia House of Delegates; beloved daughter, Caroline Belle; cherished son, Carson Jacob; parents, Larry and Carol; and siblings, Joshua and Erika; all of whom, along with numerous friends and other family members, will greatly miss her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of an inspirational woman, Andrea Lynch Lohr; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Andrea Lynch Lohr as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory. |
