VIRGINIA ACTS OF ASSEMBLY -- CHAPTER An Act to amend and reenact § 3.2, as amended, of Chapter 618 of the Acts of Assembly of 1981, which provided a charter for the Town of Vinton, relating to vacancies on the council. [S 509] Approved

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 3.2, as amended, of Chapter 618 of the Acts of Assembly of 1981 is amended and reenacted as follows:

§3.2. Vacancies on council.

Vacancies on the council shall be filled within ~~thirty~~ forty-five days of when the vacancy occurs, for the unexpired portion of the term, by a majority vote of the remaining members of the council. If, however, the unexpired portion of the term is more than two years, the person appointed by council shall serve only until the next regular councilmanic election, at which time the vacancy shall be filled by the electorate.
