AN ACT CONCERNING EDUCATIONAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR CHILDREN ADOPTED THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to require the Department of Children and Families to provide children adopted through the department's foster care program before January 1, 2005, with (1) postsecondary educational financial assistance up to the full cost of tuition and fees at any constituent unit of the state system of public higher education, or (2) a monthly stipend until the adopted child reaches the age of twenty-two, provided such child is enrolled full-time in a secondary or postsecondary education program deemed appropriate by the Commissioner of the Department of Children and Families.
Statement of Purpose:
To require the Department of Children and Families to provide postsecondary and secondary educational assistance for children who were adopted before 2005 through the department's foster care program.
